Rio Dulce - Livingston Humanitarian Tour

Enjoy a comfortable fiberglass boat ride cruising along the shore line of Amatique Bay, watching the pelicans, knights, seagulls, and viewing the fisherman at their daily work. Upon reaching the village of Livingston your tour guide will take you to the fish market. From the boat you will be able to see how they prepare the catch of the day and sun dry the sea bass, yellow jacks, sharks and other species of fish. At the Posada El Delfin stop, you will be able to sample exotic fruits of the season, pick-up a bottle of water and use the restrooms. On our way to the school we will be passing through the majestic canyon of the “Rio Dulce” river, with over 300 foot high walls full of different shades of green vegetation. At our stop at the school, you will have the opportunity to meet the teacher(s) and students and give your gifts to our Mayan children. You will be entertained by a short comedy or song prepared by the children in gratitude for your gifts. After the school stop we will continue our tour and stop at the Tortilla Learning Center. There you will be able to participate in the making of corn tortillas and sample them. Our next stop will is the Hot Water Springs, there you will be able to relax and enjoy the warm volcanic waters. Our tour will return to Livingston where a special lunch will be served accompanied with a cold beer, glass of wine or sparkling refreshments, the dessert will be accompanied by a shot of “Chico Plus” a family digestive liquor made in the city of Antigua Guatemala from the cherry fruit called Nance, the making of this “Plus” is a Spaniard secret recipe of Muñoz family. After lunch you will be entertained by live Garifuna music, and you will learn how to dance “Punta”. Right after a short city tour through the village of Livingston- 3:30 pm Back to the ship.
